Caspar Babypants

I wasn't sure how to respond when my brother texted me last week with, "Wanna go see Caspar Babypants with the Twinners and me next week?" I responded with "What?!" Ty informed me that he was "a kids music guy" that would be playing a small show at the Sammamish Library over my spring break. My immediate response was, "I bet he's no Tim Noah," to which my brother replied, "You're right. He's better. It's the lead singer from The Presidents of the United States." Apparently given my non-mother status I am super out of the loop. Hearing that this Babypants fella was better than Tim Noah (impossible unless being compared to Raffi) I decided I better check it out.

This morning I met up with the Twinners and their dad for the concert and it did not disappoint. The library was packed with parents and kids of all ages and a special dance section was taped off for the wee ones that wanted to boogie. The Twinners weren't quite up to dancing (although Avi looked like she wanted to - maybe next time) but they enjoyed themselves nonetheless. The Duder even bopped his head along to the music while he sipped his grape juice and snacked on animal crackers.

While I might have been the only person there sans a child of their own, it was a good time. I ended up purchasing a Caspar Babypants CD, had it signed, and listened to it on the way home from Issaquah. Yup, I'm a sucker.

Did I mention I purchased "Wee Sing Silly Songs" last week from Amazon? Poor Brad...I have babies on the brain but no babies. Thank goodness we know NINE couples who are set to welcome a child into this world in 2011. Lots of little ones for me to spoil and not a one that I have to get up in the middle of the night with!

Impossible to get a pic with both of them looking.

Pretty proud of her SIGNED Caspar Babypants CD.

Whirlwind Trip to Spokane

Thirty hours in total. Beginning to end. Seattle to Spokane. Spokane to Seattle. Why? To celebrate the marriage of my friend Carisa to her main squeeze, Dana. The bride looked beautiful, the ceremony was sweet (think bride attempting to give her groom a mid-ceremony smooch and him politely telling her she needed to wait until the big finale for a kiss), and the reception full of dancing and drinking. It was a Kappa Delta wedding ya know...

I was lucky enough to snag a ride from Brett and Ali since my hubs was unable to attend the festivities. Ali and I managed to talk the entire way to Spokane and the entire way back. That is officially 9 hours of talking and we didn't run out of things to talk about once. Poor Brett. I ended up being offered the front seat on the way home so he could nap in the back while we blabbed.

While a quick trip, it was still a great time and I even got to see my bff Jaymee Sire as an added bonus. Brad was missed and we made sure to let him know. He received text messages from FOUR different people at the wedding (not couting me) over the course of the evening. At least I know my friends like him!

We still think "icing" people is funny. It has yet to get old with this group.

Jake putting his arm around "Brad." Due to a miscommunication, a place was set for Brad. We made sure to recognize his absence throughout the evening. Some even enjoyed his dinner for him.

All the single ladies!

Tablemates, Jake and Brooke.

Kelly, Todd and Baby Benzel (due this fall!)

Carpoolers, Ali and Brett.

KD pic (you can't see it but we all have red finger nails for the occassion.)

Nearly Two Years Later

So it took nearly two years for us to get our wedding video. This would bother most people. Not us. In fact, it was almost better that way.

Note: This was not the fault of the wedding videographer....I am the one to blame.

When the DVD finally arrived a few weeks ago you'd think we would jump at the chance to watch it. Again, you would be wrong. Instead we let the DVD sit on the counter, begging us to watch it, while we chose to watch reruns of SNL instead. Why you ask? I can't speak for Brad but for me it was the fear of watching our perfect day on film and realizing that maybe all the memories I had of that day weren't exactly as I remembered them. That it was anything less than I remembered it to be. Amazing.

I. Was. Wrong.

Instead, it was EVERYTHING I remembered it to be...and more. I am so thankful that we (my mom and dad that is) shelled out the money for this irreplaceable documentation of June 13th, 2009. Pictures are incredible but to be able to hear the words that your spouse wrote just for you, to watch the moment you became husband and wife, to have live footage of the ones you have loved and will someday lose, to see your friends and family in their younger days, that is what makes this video special.

It's hard to believe that this day took place nearly two years ago, it feels like just yesterday. Thank you to all of you who were a part of this special day. It will certainly hold a special place in our hearts, forever.
