The condo is...RENTED!

As most of you know, the condo has been sitting empty since mid-December. Prior to that we have had renters since the fall of 2007. While we chose to end this last lease (due to some not so great smells the tenants' pet rats were creating) we had no idea that we would be sitting with an empty condo for the next 4.5 months. I guess we shouldn't have been surprised, the market simply sucks right now and is saturated with condos and townhomes being listed at ridiculously low prices.

However, the story isn't too gloomy as we did take advantage of the time we had with the condo being empty. With the help of our handyman, Joe Johnson, we were able to whip the condo back into fantastic shape. Every wall in the unit has a fresh coat of paint, the carpets have been cleaned, the mini-blinds replaced and some seriously needed drywall repairs were made. It looks great. In fact, it looks so great that we finally got it rented out after advertising for weeks on Craig's List, Rentals.com, NW Classifieds, and both Costco and Microsoft internal bulletin boards!

The new owners are a young couple about to get married and living together for the first time. They really liked the place upon first seeing it and signed a year lease the very next day! They probably think I'm crazy as I was pretty much willing to meet them anytime, anywhere and stand on my head in order to get the lease signed ASAP. The deal has been done, the keys handed off and the rent check cashed!

While attempting to rent the condo I ended up creating a blog for advertisement purposes, check it out: www.marthaslandingcondo.blogspot.com

Supporting GP!

Our niece, Gracie (Gracelynn Paige - GP), has turned into quite the little gymnast over the course of the last few years. What started out as glorified tumbling is now full fledged gymanstics with meets, routines, competitions and medals. When Grandpa Joe built Gracie her first "beam" a few years ago for Christmas we had no idea that she would turn out to be a 3rd place, all-around, state champ!

The whole family turned out for the big event that was held at Sammamish High School, including the Twinners! (We think Avigail might be the next gymnast in the family as she simply cannot take her eyes off the action.) The only issue with it being held a high school gymnasium, this one in particular, is that it was about a million degrees in the stands. Especially on the upper deck where we were seated. The whole family watched and sat, in what felt like a sauna, for 4 hours so we were very pleased when our little Gracie took 3rd!

Note: The twins aren't normally in diapers in public...but it was SO hot in the gym that we simply had to strip them down in order to keep them from bursting into flames. If the other spectators wouldn't have minded, we might have been sitting in our skibbies too. Lucky babies...

Avigail just finished telling Uncle B she wants to be a gymnast too!

Our Puppy

They say that once you have a child, your pet actually becomes a pet. Well, we don't have children. So, until that day, you get to see pictures of our "child" and hear me talk about her like she is human. Yes, that's right, this blog is all about Colie. Those of you with human children, please remember that we don't have kids yet and as I said above, Colie IS our child at this point in life so feel free to make fun of me all you want...I don't care!

Brad is entertained by my infatuation with out little one and regularly calls Colie and I "besties." (Our term for best friends.) He's right, she is one of my besties. One of my non-human besties that is. Anyone that knows me knows that I like to be needed. In fact, I don't just like it, I love it. And anyone that knows Brad knows that he is not a needy person. Therefore, the puppy is the perfect solution for this household.

While I might be the one that needs to feel needed in the house, Brad certainly enjoys his little one and there might be nothing I enjoy more than seeing him love something (other than me) so much. With that said, here are some pictures of our precious little one.

Brooke and Jake's Engagement Party

Dear friends, Brooke and Jake, will be tying the knot this fall. We simply couldn't wait until August to party so we celebrated their engagement with friends and family. Congrats Brooke and Jake!

Old posts...new pictures.

Just after the new year we went to see a LED light display in Bellevue with Brad's family. It was really cool and I highly recommend you visit it during the 2010 holiday season. Excuse the quality of the photos, I was learning to use the manual settings on my camera to take pictures of light displays. Thank you Brian Kertson for all your help!

Washington DC, January 2010

We had the pleasure of attending the Kaplan/Cohen wedding in Washington DC this past January. A wedding is the perfect excuse to visit a city we have never been to! While it was a bit chilly, the weather cooperated and Brad and I were able to pack in as many sights as humanly possible in a short period of time. By no means did we get to see everything we wanted to though...guess we will just have to go back!

The Lincoln Memorial is truly a sight to be seen. However, Lincoln's head doesn't seem proportionate to the rest of his body if you ask me.
