Benihana 2009 - Two for $20.09

I think we may have started a new tradition in 2009, going to Benihana in January with friends. Brooke and Jake collected the annual Benihana coupons out of the newspaper during the month of January and were kind enough to share them with us. The deal is this, two people eat for the price of whatever year it is. Hence, we both ate for $20.09...TOTAL. They start you off with some soup and a salad quickly followed up with a shrimp appetizers. Then it's off to the races with chicken, steak, veggies and rice. It was delicious! Of course we had to compliment our fine meal with some beverages. When Brad and I ordered saki and a large beer to share the waitress lit up. "Saki bombs?!" Her excitement for saki bombs guilted us in to doing some. Yes, it was a Monday night and here we were, doing saki bombs at 7 p.m. The whole chopsticks and pound on the table show too. We topped the night off by celebrating Kat's 27th birthday (just a baby) and wishing Brooke and Jake well on their trip to NYC.

See you in 2010 Benihana!

P.S. Next year we will sit the men at one end of the table and the women at the other. Sorry you got left out of the conversation Brett...I'm sure you had fun talking about "woman things."

Saki Bombs!

Preparing for "the drop."

Good friends, good food and good start to the year!

TGIF!

Thank goodness the weekend has finally arrived! While we don't have anything crazy planned we will keep ourselves busy attending various events. Tonight we head to a birthday party for our dear friend Brooke. We'll kick it off with some Mexi food at our fave place (Brooke's and mine...not Brad's) and follow it up with a trip to a local pub for some brewskis with the birthday girl (and boy - her bf Jake.) The camera is coming out tonight so I'm hoping for some good pics of Brad making a fool out of Jake. It's their way of showing their love for one another. Did I mention Brad calls Jake, "Jack"? Yeah...you tell me.

The rest of the weekend is sure to be sports filled. With a State Cup soccer game for my 11 year old nephew Spencer (AKA - "Sepa") Saturday afternoon, UFC 94: GSP vs Penn Saturday night and the Super Bowl on Sunday I'm sure we'll log way too many hours in front of the television set with beers and junk food in hand. Not to worry, Brad will have us both in the gym by Monday. God love him and his addiction to working out.

Can someone explain to me....

Why our dog has started barking at the crack of dawn every morning? She used to sleep through the entire night and often had to be woken up in the morning because she was so sleepy. Gone are those days... She now wakes up anywhere between 3 a.m. and 6 a.m. and barks non-stop until the morning. She suckered us (Brad) a few times and was allowed to get in to bed with us after hours of barking. After I convinced Brad that giving in to her "doe eyes" (as he likes to call them) will get us no where fast we are back to plugging our ears with ear plugs and doing our best to ignore her naughty behavior. Rumor has it that dogs around the 1 year old mark try to establish their independence and dominance. Someone should let her know that I am the Alpha Dog in this house. Bark on sister.

NYE 2008

As you very well might already know, Brad and I are not ones to get all dressed up and whoop it up on the town (should make for an interesting wedding...) Each year for NYE we try to find something to do that involves spending time with family or friends where we can sit back, relax and enjoy a cocktail (or two, or three, or four.) This year did not fall short. We had an anazing dinner at Daniel's Broiler on Lake Union with friends, Brian, Kris, Jessie, Erik and Mary, followed up my a great display of Space Needle fireworks from Brian's parents' deck. More than one cocktail was enjoyed, delicious food was plentiful and good friends we were surrounded by. We rang in the New Year by toasting and hugging one another and wishing all the best to everyone in 2009. Bring on the funk '09!

P.S. 2009 will mark my ten year anniversary from high school. Wow, time flies when you're having fun.

Husband and wife to be!

Jessie, Kris and Brian.

We both have good taste...

Wedding website up and running, check it out!

While the wedding website has been up since November I thought it would be wise to post it on our blog as well. We (I) spent quite a lot of time getting it ready for launch and still edit it quite regularly. As time goes on I will update it with more wedding details. For now, you can read all about how we met, when we got engaged, when and where our wedding is taking place, who is in our bridal party, where to stay, activities while you are in town, etc. There are more details than anyone could ever imagine and more on the way. If you do decide to check it out, please be sure to sign our guest book!

The first of many blogs to come...

Well, I'm not even an official Kertson yet and here I have gone and set up a Kertson Family blog spot. I feared someone would get my URL before I had the chance too. There has been little excitement in 2009 but we are happy to keep it that way. Just when you think life is getting boring it throws you a curve call. We'll keep it nice and boring for now.
